Request Marriage Certificates
The Le Sueur County Marriage Certificate Request Application asks for both applicants' legal full names, the date of marriage, the requester name, address, phone number, number of copies, and amount enclosed. Apply for a Marriage License
Both applicants must appear at the Recorder's Office and bring valid photo ID. The license is valid for six months from the application date and may be used anywhere in Minnesota. Applicants need legal names before and after marriage, addresses before and after marriage, Social Security number if applicable, birthdate, place of birth, prior marriage termination date and location, and felony information and location.

Le Sueur County Divorce Records
Divorce records are District Court family records. They are not Recorder's Office marriage records. Search MCRO Case Search by party name or case number, or contact Le Sueur County Court Administration for a certified divorce decree or older file. MCRO remote access is more limited for family case types than for many civil and criminal records. The MCRO overview says online public document access for family cases may include court-prepared orders, appellate opinions, and notices, rather than every party-filed document. Sensitive financial, child, and restricted identifiers are redacted or restricted. If a public record is not online, courthouse public access terminals or Court Administration may still be the proper channel.
That split matters when a person needs proof for a name change, benefits, remarriage, or a legal filing. A marriage certificate proves the license and certificate record held by the county where the license was applied for. A divorce decree is a court order from the family case. Le Sueur County Recorder staff cannot issue a divorce decree, and Court Administration is not the certificate office for a marriage license issued through the Recorder.
